Cross

A cross is a type of pipe fitting that allows four pipes to be connected at right angles.

Description

The cross fitting has four openings, one on each end, all at 90-degree angles to each other. The ends of the cross can be either male or female, depending on how they are designed to connect to the adjacent pipes.

Cross fittings are typically used in piping systems where four pipes need to be connected at right angles, such as in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems or in plumbing systems where a water supply needs to be split into four directions.

Cross fittings can be made from a variety of materials, including brass, copper, stainless steel, PVC, and other plastics. They are available in a range of sizes and configurations to accommodate different pipe sizes and connection types.

When installing a cross fitting, it’s important to use the appropriate techniques and tools to ensure a secure and leak-free connection. This may include using Teflon tape or pipe dope on the threads, tightening the fittings to the correct torque, and pressure testing the system after installation.
